Grand Prix – Superior Wear & Drought Resistant Turf

Grand Prix is a high performance couch turf that feels as good as it looks. It has a medium to fine leaf and is dark green in colour. Grand Prix is exceptionally soft under foot, has superior wear and drought resistance. This turf recovers well from damage but also requires less mowing then other common high wear varieties. Grand Prix requires at least 6-7 hours of direct sunlight per day. This turf is a great option for sports fields where a higher quality finish is desired.

Grand Prix FAQ’s

How does Grand Prix compare to other couch grasses in wear tolerance and recovery?

Grand Prix ranks among the most wear-resistant couch varieties, studies show it’s nearly twice as wear-tolerant as many standard options, and its vigorous horizontal growth enables it to recover quickly from damage.

What maintenance does Grand Prix require in terms of mowing, watering, and weed control?

Thanks to its low seed head production, dense canopy, and drought tolerance, Grand Prix requires less mowing, minimal watering once established, and reduced weed control compared to other high-wear turf varieties.

Can Grand Prix be used in colder climates or shaded areas?

Yes—while Grand Prix prefers full sun (around 6–7 hours daily), it tolerates some shade. It also maintains good colour and continues to perform in cooler months, making it a versatile choice across varied climates.
